Day 4 - Thursday morning - Mrs Rendall's group go orienteering and kayaking!

After our wake up call we were quickly at breakfast today, despite some tired bairns (and perhaps staff too!).
It was boiled eggs, petit pain (peedie rolls) and the usual cereal, toast, porridge and fruit juice.
Then it was getting organised and setting off for our last four activities here.
Orienteering meant some good map reading and teamwork skills were required. There were five teams with a variety of interesting names  - 61 Hats, The Biscuit and the Boy, Flobsters, The Pugglies and RK. Mrs R did some running around too. First of all we looked for particular things around the building using close up photos and a map. Different pictures gave them varying amounts of points.
In the end the Pugglies collected the most points.
After that they had a crime to solve. Chief Wigham was trying to find out who had stolen lots of donuts from Springfield....Was it Homer? Santa's Little Helper? Mr Burns? or another character from The Simpsons.
There were clues all around the area which needed to be found and then pieced together. There are a few budding detectives amongst the group. Anyway it was Mr Burns and Smithers....

Can we get ten children on a tree trunk?... Well we did!

 Sorting out our clues.

Looking for the right locations using the map.

 The winning combination....

We then went out kayaking on the 'Pond'. This was a slight change to our schedule. Everyone listened well to the instructor and had great fun playing games and splashing around. Some folk even jumped in afterwards - they were very cold after that!

Heading down to the water.

Lifting the kayaks to the pond.

 Teamwork required.

 Practice on land first!

 And off we go.....

 Some folk even jumped in!

 Feeling a bit shivery!
